A 2-Day Introduction to Imago Relationship Therapy Training Weekend

This video is about a 2-Day Introduction to Imago Relationship Therapy Training

Weekend with Kalanit Ben-Ari.
Hear feedback from therapists who attended a previous training course in London.
What was their experience of the training course?
What was their experience of the clinical instructor, Kalanit Ben-Ari?
And if you are still considering, what do you need to know?

Kalanit is an Imago Clinical Supervisor.

Imago Relationship Theory helps us to understand why we pick the partners we do and why intimate relationships can be so challenging for so many of us. Imago Relationship Therapy gives clients the skills and understanding they need to turn their conflicts into opportunities for the repair of current and past relationship hurts.

Imago Relationship Therapy is a systematic theory of relationship therapy developed by Harville Hendrix, Ph.D., and Helen LaKelly Hunt. IRT powerfully synthesizes major aspects of depth psychology, object relations, systems theory and humanistic-existential theory into a comprehensive approach to working with relationships. This is an opportunity to learn a theory and methodology that will help you love working with couples.

This two day training is open to all mental health professionals. It is credited by the Imago International Institute toward certification for anyone who wishes to continue his or her training to become a Certified Imago Therapist or Facilitator.

A clinical and theoretical overview of Imago Relationship Therapy including:

  • Basic ideas of Imago Relationship Theory

  • The Imago Dialogue: Demonstration and practice of core relationship skills

  • The impact of neuroscience and clinical research on our understanding of relationship and clinical practice

  • A developmental model enabling couples to identify their interactional cycles arising from character adaptations

  • Relationship between IMAGO and spirituality

  • The role of the Imago Relationship therapist

  • Meta-Theory – The Four Journeys of the Self

  • Conscious Relationship: dissolving emotional symbiosis through differentiation

  • Imago Consultation Process: intervention demonstrated in live.

Clinical Training Program in Imago Relationship Therapy

The first part is a 96 hour (12-day) training program which is usually completed in three sessions, each four days long. The sessions are scheduled over a period of time to enable trainees to practice with clients and prepare tapes.

Module 1 (days 1-4) February 2020, 28th-2nd March

Module 2 (days 5-8) April 2020, 24th- 27th

Module 3 (days 9-12) July 2020,  3rd- 6th

The second part is based around a six month program of supervision which prepares for submission of a final clinical videotape for evaluation as well as written reports.

Pre-requisites: Attendance at a “Getting the Love You Want” workshop. Membership in UKCP or equivalent nationally recognized regulating body with standards of training, supervision and ethics.

What you can expect from the training

  • A deep theoretical understanding of couple relationships which serves as a map to guide your interventions - why we pick the partners we do, why we have the conflicts we have, and what to do to move into the joy that is our essence.

  • Practice in developing skill in facilitating couples, holding them gently and firmly in new ways of connecting through the Imago dialogue processes, deepening their empathic connection, and empowering them to heal their relationship.

  • A personal growth experience that will quite possibly impact your own personal and professional relationships, your way of working with all your clients and your way of being in the world.

  • A sense that couple therapy can be fun and enlivening for you and your clients.
